And if all was well
And your heart could find the words
Would we be for better baby
Would we be for worse
I’m forever trying to force this book upon people and I wrote about it on another tumblr of mine where I focus more on human rights type stuff, but I thought I might as well promote it here.
'Half the Sky: How to Change the World', written by Nicholas D. Kristof and Sheryl Wudunn.
This has to be one of the most informative, inspirational and emotional books I have ever read. It focuses primarily on a wide range of women’s rights - issues from sex trafficking, testimonials of child brothel workers to basic maternal rights. This book was a huge eye opener for me, even though I already knew a lot regarding the issues explored, I didn’t quite realise the horrors involved.
As I said, the book contains many testimonials, some extremely detailed (especially when it comes to the brutalities of brothels) and some quite inspiring. I would say that this book will definitely change you for the better, it may change your opinions or simply just your understanding of the world - for this, I would make everyone read it if I could.
When I was in Williamsburg I stayed with a fashion designer. She was pretty fun and had stacks and stacks of amazing shoes everywhere.
